Finally, Android users
are getting some kind of attention from Microsoft Outlook team as the
company recently has revealed Outlook Web App (OWA) for Android
platform. The company is soon to launch this application for business
editions of Office 365 and Exchange. It comes to know that the
upcoming application will bring Android in line with iOS and Windows
Phone that both have native OWA applications.
The all new OWA
application Android is following last year’s launch of OWA for the
iPhone and iPad. It means Android users have gain the earlier access
to new exchange features such as the slew that Microsoft declared at
this week’s Exchange conference. It is one such application that
provides contact, email, calendar features for Office 365
subscribers.
Microsoft wrote on its
Office blog on Monday “We know that nearly half of emails are now
first seen on the phone. So it's clear that phone is becoming the
primary screen for communications… On iPhone and iPad, we released
the OWA app last year. And today we announced that we will be
releasing the OWA app for Android as our latest step in that
journey.”
Among all the new
features of OWA, Office 365 is codenamed Clutter as it promises to
divide essential email from variety of junk that frequently fill
inboxes. Office 365 (codenamed as Clutter) is uses Microsoft’s
machine learning methods in order to look for indicators that unveil
the meaning of some email messages or senders.
Microsoft said “For
example, if you completely ignored Juan's email about his recent
vacation pictures, that message was likely unimportant to you – ie,
clutter. On the other hand, if you both read and responded to
Cathy's email about her new budget proposal, that message was likely
important to you – ie, not clutter.”
Moreover, the all new
Clutter feature will push crucial email to the top and drop all those
email to the footer that is less interesting. Users of this
application are also allowed to tag clutter items as non-clutter if
they are selecting it so that similar items doesn’t get tangential
in future. Further, they are also able to delete all clutter emails
in a single click.
The application is
integrated for tightly with OneDrive for Business that enables users
to share files between Microsoft’s cloud storage and the OWA app as
an email attachment. However, the company is also polishing up group
collaboration that support real-time co-authoring on Office Online
docs that are stored in OneDrive.
Within OWA application,
finally the company is going to use Yammer-inspired group’s lists
so that it can bring better collaboration facility across the Office
suite.
Microsoft said “Both
Outlook Web App and Yammer show the same conversations for the same
groups. This means however you prefer to work – whether you live
only in email, only in Yammer, or both — you can participate in the
group. We're creating a collaboration tool that will allow everyone
in your organization to work more closely together, in their
preferred manner.”
