Google to Release Android Wearable SDK This Month

Google’s SVP of Android, Applications and Chrome ‘Sundar Pichai’ announced that the company has decided to launch an android developer software development kit in this month that allows third-party developers to develop Android software to use on wearable computing devices.

This news has been declared by Sundar Pichai at SXSW today and he also confirmed that the Android SDK specially designed for use with wearable devices. While discussing about the panel with John Battelle at the South by Southwest conference in Austin, he made an announcement about Google’s plan to launch android developers SDK for wearable devices.

In the conference, Pichai said “In two weeks we are launching the first developer SDK for Android.” "That will lay out the vision for developers in how we see this market working."

He also said that one of the major aims is to take Android beyond smart-phones and tablet markets to a multi-screen world. He is very much impressed with the evolution of wearable devices to the smart-phone revolution as it takes the industry to the next level.

As per the person, who is familiar with the company’s plans, told CNET in February that Google is expected to release its plans for its smart-watch centric operating system. It comes to know that the company is working with LG, a South Korean electronics maker, to create a smart-watch which will be first launched at its Google I/O conference in June.

The new operating system is based on the Google Now voice assistant and search feature that will drive the core functions of its Google Glass headwear. However, the sales of smart-watches have not been as impressive as it expected, and the market is estimated to be worth $19 billion by 2018, as per the Juniper Research.
