Microsoft to Bring Xbox Live Play to iOS and Android

Apparently, Microsoft is looking to bring its Xbox Live Play to Apple’s iOS and Android devices. This time it looks like that the company is extending beyond Windows Phone’s walls. The Xbox Live Play that comes to iOS and Android is bringing many functions to the mobile games that run on Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS mobile operating systems.

As per the recent Microsoft job posting notes, “We will create a modern framework that is open source, light-weight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS and Android.”
Talking further, the SmartGlass application that people already downloaded in their device, now it seems that Microsoft wants to expand its Xbox Live’s functionality. Moreover, The verge quoted its own name and says that the company is looking to position Xbox Live as an option for players to use to earn achievements, find friends and probably cross-platform gaming.

So, we can say that the company wanted to make Xbox Live to run on different platforms because this way they can encourage more and more developers to develop their games to its service no matter whether they run on Windows Phone, iOS, Android or Windows.

The main aim that listed in the job description is creating “a modern framework that is open source, light-weight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS and Android."

It makes sense that the company has desired to “win-back” game developers from all those developers, who are turned from programming PC titles and consoles to mobile game markets. The company will make the Xbox Live network a lot easier to integrate into their games; however, Xbox Live developers should get certification and permission from Microsoft. Supposedly, the company is involved in dipping its restrictions and offering better tools to makers to add Xbox Live functionality to their games.

However, The Verge also confirmed that with a source familiar with the Redmond Company’s plans that the company is going to build a platform to extend Xbox Live functionality to android and iOS games. Google Play Games and Game Center are already operated by Google and Apple respectively, but Microsoft wants to position its Xbox Live for mobile as an option, which can be used by players to earn achievements, sync up with friends and more.
