Jelly Bean Rolling Out To Beat Gingerbread

The world’s most popular Google’s operating system, Android is running about 75% of smart devices globally. We all know that one of the major criticisms of the Android OS persisting to be fragmentation of updates. Now, we find that nearly two-year-old Gingerbread has been overtaken by Google's Jelly Bean Android version to place crown of the most common variant. But, it is seen that ongoing fragmentation is still leaving users open to attack, security community said.

As per the latest statistics from the Android Developer Forum, it is found that Android Jelly Bean is installed on 37.9% of Google smartphones and tablets while Android 4.1 and the latest 4.2 update is running on 32.3% and 5.6% respectively. Looking at this figure, we come to know the older Gingerbread version with 34.1 percent share of the ecosystem is beaten by latest version. Moreover, comparison with upcoming Android JellyBean 4.3 is remaining.

As we have mentioned the Android 4.3 update comes with some minor tweaks. We all have an idea that Google loves to update its camera features with each update to the OS. Android Apps Features in this latest update is remarkable. It invites a whole new suite of Android apps along with a new game centre. Accessing to Google Play Games, we find remarkable Android Game Features for playing multiplayer titles games. Apart from, inception of latest android 4.3 update also gives challenge to the Android developers as well.

Talking about Android version 4.0 that means Ice Cream Sandwich, it credited 22.5 % of devices in its favor. This Android version 4.0 was announced in 2011. If we adding percentage of Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread, we find about half of android device don’t have access to latest versions, which is not good for Google.

Especially for users, Android updates are important for fixing and updating essential securities that help them protect their lot of private data on their devices and tablets. Moreover, latest versions bring better performance and features of personalization to make device more interesting.

In addition, if android doesn’t come with updates, it can be aggravating that Android is believed to be an ‘open source’ system. However, very frequently we doesn’t see OEM’s roll out to the latest update for older device. Besides, there are some companies doesn’t enjoy latest updates even for premium end models, so it doesn’t fair to blame only Google for this.

Moving towards latest Apple’s update, we found that Apple’s latest OS updates are rolled out to every user, excluding where Apple has stopped creating the device in question. For example, iOS 6 wasn’t rolled out to the first-generation iPad and the third generation iPod Touch. According to Apple’s developers at its annual developer’s conference 93% of users adopted iOS 6.

It is must for OEM’s and Google to make user that their users are accessing to the latest versions of Android rather than old one.
